Rehoboth Beach House
This ocean-view weekend home fronts on one of the main streets running through an established beach neighborhood. Its neighbors range from the fifties modern houses that were original to the neighborhood, through more recent, and, largely more traditional, renovations and replacements, and include a seven-story modern condo building half a block away.
The basic organization is created by two sixteen-foot-wide towers, connected across the back with a four-story stairhall. The ground floor is given over to the garages and services areas dictated by coastal zoning. The first floor contains guest rooms in one wing, with the other devoted to the children's bedrooms and TV /computer room. A generous, light-filled stair hall leads up to the second floor living areas, with a double-height living room with a mezzanine home office, and a large, open kitchen and dining area, with views to the ocean.
The third level contains the master bedroom suite, and and exterior stair, and an elevator, lead up to a roof deck. Throughout the house, multiple layers of balconies, decks and terraces provide outdoor living spaces from which the family can enjoy their ocean retreat.
