Long House

This new house outside of Baltimore is sited on a gently sloping meadow and set back from its neighbors. The house is long and thin to bring in light and air from both sides, and to open to the meadow on one side and a pool courtyard on the other, providing the sunny sites for family sports that our clients requested. The main living area opens to these outdoor spaces and becomes an extension of both. Dressed stone, zinc, bleached cedar and integrally colored white stucco are woven together on the exterior and interior to further blur the distinction between inside and outside.
